# Build with your agent

Canonical: https://fonte.is/docs/work-with-an-agent

Give an agent a clear brief, use Fonte’s design contract, and bring the result into a working page or email. Start without a connection, then add one when you want account access.

## Pick one real outcome

Start with the thing you want someone to see or do: join a newsletter, hear about a launch, or read an update. Tell your agent who it is for, what it should say, and any brand details it should keep. You can use the agent you already work with.

You do not need a Fonte connection to get help with HTML, CSS, copy, or CSV preparation. The following workflows let you inspect and apply the result in Fonte.

## Focus on email broadcasts

Hosted signup pages and form design are retired. Use your agent to prepare, review and monitor email broadcasts.

- [Prepare and test an email](https://fonte.is/docs/prepare-and-test)

## Bring the details you already know

An agent can turn an export into a CSV with an Email column, recognized profile headers, and useful custom columns. Keep the original export and ask the agent to preserve useful values rather than reducing the file to email addresses.

```csv
Email,First name,Company,Interests
alex@example.com,Alex,Studio,Design
sam@example.com,Sam,Workshop,Writing
```

Import the result through Contacts → Import, confirm permission, and read the import result. Fonte recognizes profile fields and turns other columns into custom fields. Keep the same import attempt if its outcome is still being checked.

- [Import your audience and check the result](https://fonte.is/docs/contacts)

## Turn an idea into an email

Give your agent the message, real destination links, and the current email HTML if you are revising an existing draft. Ask it to preserve the footer and assets you already have.

```text
Create a complete responsive HTML email from my brief and supplied source.
Keep the current mailing address and working unsubscribe link. Keep the
images available at their supplied web addresses. Make the text, buttons,
and layout readable on mobile and in light and dark mode. Do not add
JavaScript.
Return one complete HTML email, plus suggestions for the subject and preview
text. Do not send it.
```

In the broadcast editor, choose HTML under Source, apply the complete email with Use HTML, and send yourself a test. Check the actual inbox result before approving an audience send.

## Connect when the agent needs account access

To let an agent handle connection setup, give it this instruction. Fonte’s setup page explains the supported MCP and CLI routes, sign-in, workspace selection, and how to verify access.

```text
Set up Fonte for me using
https://fonte.is/docs/agent-setup.md.
```

You sign in and approve access through the official flow. The agent should verify the selected workspace and report any missing access. It should keep credentials out of the conversation.

- [CLI setup](https://fonte.is/docs/cli)

## Prepare a broadcast in your workspace

Once connected, your agent can work on a saved broadcast in the same workspace you use in Fonte. Give it a brief and have it bring the saved draft and review back to you.

```text
Prepare a broadcast in my selected Fonte workspace from this brief.
Open the draft I named, or create one if I have asked for a new broadcast.
Keep its draft ID so I can return to it. Use the sender and audience choices
I supplied; ask me to choose by name when more than one option fits.
Save the message, read the latest revision, and request its review. Show me
the review state, recipient and exclusion counts, and any blocker.
After a timeout, read or recover the same request. Do not make a replacement
draft or send email.
```

The references below walk through the exact calls, response fields, and recovery steps. MCP can revise an existing draft; the current CLI creates a draft with its content and reads it back. You can also edit the same draft in Fonte.

- [MCP: draft → review → readback](https://fonte.is/docs/mcp-tools)
- [CLI: draft → review → readback](https://fonte.is/docs/cli-commands)

## Keep your choices in the loop

Review the design or data before applying it. A helpful agent preserves your Appearance settings, the intended workspace, existing permission choices, and the reference to work already created.

Account access is separate from approval to send to an audience. Ask the agent to explain the message, recipients, and cost before the send, and to check the same broadcast after an uncertain response.

- [Recover an unclear result](https://fonte.is/docs/resolve-a-blocked-broadcast)
