Privacy Policy
Fonte Inc. (“fonte,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides infrastructure for managing audiences and sending email broadcasts.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information fonte processes, why we process it, how we share and retain it, and the choices and rights available to you.
Our role
fonte processes personal information in different roles depending on the context.
When you create or use a fonte account, visit our website, contact us, or interact with us as a customer, fonte generally determines how that information is used to operate, secure, bill for, and improve the service.
When a customer uploads contacts, creates an audience, or sends email through fonte, the customer generally determines why that information is being processed. fonte processes that information on the customer’s behalf and according to the customer’s instructions, subject to our agreements and applicable law.
If you received an email sent through fonte and have a question about why you received it, please contact the sender first. We assist our customers with applicable privacy requests concerning data they control.
Information we process
Account and workspace information
We process information used to create, authenticate, secure, and administer fonte accounts and workspaces, including names, email addresses, authentication information, workspace memberships, roles, settings, and security events.
Contacts and audiences
Customers may provide email addresses and related contact, consent, suppression, audience, exclusion, and permission information.
Customers are responsible for having appropriate authority to provide this information to fonte and to use it for their intended communications.
Broadcast and delivery information
We process information required to prepare, authorize, execute, monitor, and account for broadcasts. This may include message content, sender configuration, audience information, sending status, provider references, delivery attempts, acceptances, bounces, complaints, suppressions, and other delivery feedback.
Billing information
We process information needed to measure usage, determine included and paid sending, authorize payment, maintain billing records, and resolve payment issues.
Payment information may also be processed directly by our payment providers. fonte may receive payment status, transaction identifiers, and related billing information rather than complete payment-card details.
Support and communications
We process information you provide when you contact us about support, privacy, security, billing, legal matters, or other service-related issues.
Technical information
When you use fonte, we and our infrastructure providers may process technical information necessary to operate and protect the service, such as IP addresses, browser and device information, timestamps, request information, logs, and security signals.
How we use information
We use personal information to provide and administer fonte; authenticate users and protect accounts; maintain workspace boundaries and permissions; prepare and send authorized broadcasts; maintain consent, suppression, and delivery records; measure accepted-email usage; process payments; provide support; detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security threats; investigate incidents; maintain and improve service reliability; and comply with applicable law.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on the basis appropriate to the activity. This may include performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting fonte, or consent where consent is required.
When fonte processes contact or audience information on behalf of a customer, the customer is responsible for determining the appropriate legal basis for its processing and communications.
How we share information
We disclose information only as reasonably necessary to operate fonte and for the purposes described in this policy.
When you direct fonte to interact with another service, information may be exchanged with that service as necessary to perform the requested connection or operation. That service's own terms and privacy practices also apply.
We may also disclose information where required by law; to protect fonte, our customers, recipients, or others from fraud, abuse, security threats, or unlawful activity; or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business.
fonte does not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Service providers
fonte uses service providers to operate, secure, support, and bill for the service. These providers may process personal information on fonte's behalf only as necessary to provide their services and subject to applicable contractual protections.
Where fonte processes personal information on behalf of a customer, information about relevant subprocessors is made available to that customer as required by our agreement and applicable law.
International processing
fonte is a United States company. Personal information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where fonte or its service providers operate.
Where applicable law requires specific safeguards for international transfers of personal information, fonte uses legally recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual protections as applicable.
Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is processed, including providing the service, maintaining accurate consent and suppression records, securing fonte, resolving disputes, maintaining billing and accounting records, enforcing our agreements, and satisfying legal obligations.
Different categories of information may therefore have different retention periods.
When information is no longer required, we delete, de-identify, or otherwise dispose of it in accordance with our operational and legal obligations. Some information may remain for a limited period in backups, security records, or other systems before being removed through their normal lifecycle.
Certain records may need to be retained longer where necessary to prevent abuse, preserve suppression or consent history, resolve financial or legal disputes, or comply with law.
Account closure and deletion
You may request closure of your fonte account or deletion of personal information by contacting privacy@fonte.is.
We may need to verify your identity and your authority over the relevant account or workspace before acting on a request.
Deletion may be subject to information we must or are permitted to retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, billing, contractual, suppression, or other legitimate purposes.
Closing an account does not necessarily require us to erase every record immediately where continued retention is required or permitted by applicable law.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to request access to personal information about you, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, obtain a portable copy of certain information, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You may exercise an applicable right by contacting privacy@fonte.is. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and authority.
We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
If your request concerns information that a fonte customer uploaded or used to send you email, that customer may be the organization responsible for the information. In that situation, we may direct you to the customer or assist the customer in responding to your request.
Where applicable, you may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Email recipients
fonte provides infrastructure that customers use to send email. fonte does not independently decide who our customers email or the purpose of their messages.
If you no longer want to receive a particular customer's emails, use the unsubscribe mechanism in that customer's message or contact that customer directly.
fonte processes unsubscribe requests, suppressions, bounces, complaints, and related delivery information as necessary to operate the service and help prevent messages from being sent where they should not be.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or misuse.
No method of transmission, storage, or operation of an online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
If you believe a fonte account or information processed by fonte may have been compromised, contact privacy@fonte.is. Do not send passwords, API keys, access tokens, recipient lists, or other secrets in the report.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as fonte and applicable requirements change.
When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and provide any additional notice required by applicable law.
